AquaSolar device in action

Introducing AquaSolar

AquaSolar is a revolutionary solar-powered, wireless, and decentralized irrigation solution designed for large-scale properties. Whether you're managing a golf course, university campus, or corporate grounds, AquaSolar offers an efficient, eco-friendly way to optimize your water usage.

How It Works

AquaSolar integrates solar energy and wireless technology to deliver a smart, autonomous irrigation solution. Here's how it operates:

  1. Solar Power: Equipped with high-efficiency solar panels for sustainable energy.
  2. Wireless Range: Communication range between nodes is rated up to 50 yards.
  3. Battery Life: Designed to operate for up to 1 week without sunlight.
  4. Recharge Rate: Fully recharges within 1 hour under full sunlight conditions.
  5. Smart Water Scheduling: Utilizes onboard sensors to optimize watering and inhibit operation under the following conditions:
    1. Soil moisture is high (watering not needed)
    2. Temperature is too low (freeze protection)
    3. Total water usage limit has been reached
    4. Water flow is abnormally high (possible broken or leaking line)
    5. Optional: Potential fire risk turns on sprinklers near the heat source and cascades to surrounding areas to mitigate fire spread.
  6. Compatibility: Works as a drop-in replacement for existing DC controlled valves.
  7. Data Collection and Logging: All sensor readings are logged for analysis and diagnostics.
    1. Local systems maintain a 1-week log.
    2. Cloud-connected systems support a maximum of 1 year of data storage per account.
  8. Onboard GPS: Provides location tracking for security and landscape monitoring.
  9. System Health Monitoring: Includes continuous diagnostics of critical components:
    1. Battery voltage monitoring
    2. Battery current monitoring
    3. Solar panel voltage
    4. Solar panel current
    5. Humidity sensor (may be replaced with a water detection sensor in the valve housing)

Footnotes

1. Hibernate between scheduled events and monitoring data every 10 minutes, and standard battery capacity 2000 mAh.

2. Calculations based on standard battery capacity 2000 mAh. A larger battery capacity will extend this rating.

3. Maximum is governed by the frequency of water timer measurements. The unit must report "on-time", "off-time", and gallons of "water-used".

4. Operating temperatures cited are within the range of our components. However, users must consult the driven valve's specifications to ensure it remains within its operating limits. For example, a hard freeze could damage pipes or valves even if the controller remains unaffected.
